Tips for Extracurricular Activities

Don’t force yourself to join sports team! Because my friends told me to join at least one team to make friends, I forced myself to join winter season track team without any prior sports training experience. The team had practice everyday for 1 hour. I ran on rainy days and snowy days. I would recommend you to join if you have passion for sports. Otherwise, there are plenty other ways to make friends.

If you are interested in joining clubs in WHS, go to the club fair in September, the actual date varies and will be on the student handbook. At club fair, most clubs in WHS will have a table in the cafeteria, and you can get to know these clubs - what they do, when they meet, and etc. - and sign up for the ones you like. Here is the link to the complete list of clubs: https://wellesleyps.org/whs/wp-content/uploads/sites/17/2016/07/clubs__activities_1-12doc.pdf (but some of the clubs are not on the list)
Club fairs are held at the beginning of each academic year, and my advice is to always sign up for more than you will eventually go. Go to the first meetings, figure out the schedule, and decide which clubs you actually want to devote an hour every week on.

Our school has so many clubs, so there will be a plenty of choices every year. Some clubs have the same meeting schedules, so it is important to organize your time well and pick the club that sounds most interesting to you. If you want to know more information about a club, you could also get in touch with the club officers or directory teachers. It is important to attend the Club Fair every September because it is one of the easiest ways to sign up for the clubs you want to join. I personally think the most important thing is to join the club you would enjoy. Maybe you could try some different things and find out the best choice for you, and just don’t force yourself!
