Getting Guidance Counselor’s Help

Before your senior year, most of the times you go to see your guidance counselor is for course selection and schedule change. During the springtime of every school year, we choose the classes for next year. Before submitting your course selection request online, it is highly recommended that you check with your counselor first to see if the course load is appropriate. After the schedule comes out, you can ask for a course change request paper from your guidance counselor if you are not satisfied with the schedule. Besides academic topics, you can always chat with your guidance counselor about any personal concern, or just drop by and say hi. He/she is not only the person who is going to write your college recommendation but also the one who really cares about your happiness and mental health.

School assign one guidance counselor to each student. You can get help in various fields. You will meet them once a cycle for one semester per year for guidance seminar. Each counselors has more than 100 students. Because you need a recommendation letter from your guidance counselor for college, you should maintain a good relationship with him or her and differentiate yourself from 100 students.
